Aging in Place
I recently signed up for TikTok with the sole intent to market my books and “Possibility Aging” products. My topic is AGING, and I’m still not sure how I got introduced to the meme: What does a woman over 50 look like?, that was going viral.
I must admit my expectations were low for the type of content this would generate. Yes, TikTok is highly focused on dancing-lip syncing people from Russian babushkas to celebrities like Kevin Bacon (which got tired for me after 2 weeks), and titillating impulse buyers—but…this meme was refreshingly not that.
There were literally hundreds of women over 50, 60, 70, and above, posting meaningful content with inspiring messaging. The emphasis was not on “anti-aging” for the vast majority (a few Botox and plastic surgery entrees, but not many), rather aging well within their age.
One video caught my attention because it was so real, so authentic, I watched it 4 times, before deciding to reach out to the woman. Her name is Michelle Brown Matteson, a retired Nurse and NLP Practitioner Sharing How to Sizzle Your Silver Era!
Michelle and I hit it off immediately over a phone conversation. I didn’t know it at the time, but she too was a nurse, her last job before retiring was working in hospice care. She was just so spot on, I was not surprised to find out she had a nursing career. I was so impressed with Michell’s take on aging, which is much like my own, I asked her if I could share her offerings (including FREE ones) with my LinkedIn family—she was delighted.
It is so encouraging to find like-minded people in areas of personal and professional pursuits. And even more so if they are honest and have integrity…Michelle certainly does; her career history proves that.
My fear was this is a place where meaningful content goes to die…
