How can I see the earlier information (2 sessions, I believe) about The Yellow House?
Hi Karen! Just to clarify, our online Zoom discussion for The Yellow House will be on Thursday, January 23 at 4:30pm EST. Others have shared their thoughts on the book in this comment section. Feel free to read and share yours! We hope to see you on Zoom for the discussion on the 23rd.
Enjoyed the first section, and the writing style. The way the family members are described makes you feel as if you know them.
Yes Pat I felt the same way, nostalgic, things that were going on in that area was going on in other parts of the world too.
I started the book about the New Orleans Yellow House east of downtown . It seems the house was full of sorrowful stories like the death of the author’s father. It was falling apart and no one could build it back properly due to lack of funds or decisions to pay for private school.
I can already tell that this book will be heart-wrenching!
Enjoying the book, especially the family descriptions & dynamics. I grew up in Florida, where hurricanes like Betsy were/are common & can relate to going through that as a child, the fear & how families, houses and neighborhoods are forever changed. I’m familiar with the geography of East NOLA, from friends who grew up near there.
Good choice.
